Where You Go on holiday? Azmara, of course!

When the opportunity came to Cruiser Azamara trip a week in the Mediterranean, jumped on it. Not literally, you understand. I politely walked up to the runway like everyone else!

Cruiser began in Venice with one night in the famous city. I've been to Venice before, but this time I saw a different from the same side. Once the sun began to set all disappeared from the attraction. Passengers of cruise ships that had requested the day, everyone left. Suddenly everything was quieter, calmer, more what we hope will be Venice. The lights of the restaurants wore on the Grand canal, buzz of people dining at outdoor full air. This is the Venice of romance.

There was also an intimate atmosphere aboard Azamara trip. It is smaller than some boats in which I have sailed, still 30,000 tonnes and carrying not more than 680 passengers. I liked the atmosphere. Staff were among the friendly that I met at sea. The food was outstanding. Free wine with lunch and dinner - different wines every day - truly complements each meal.

Entertainment is very different from the larger cruise ships. The place is a 'show room' instead of a large theatre. This means that the shows are over 'acts' instead of 'sample'. An incredible violinist, Doug Cameron, played a wide variety of music. There was a brilliant guitarist, and cruise director sang and entertained in a couple of nights. The accompaniment of the Orchestra Azamara was exceptional, a highlight in itself.

And what an itinerary! It was really fantastic. It is another advantage of a smaller boat cruise. They can maneuver in ports that big ships simply cannot get in. The first stop, Croatia, split was just beautiful. It is a walled city of fascinating, full of history with the past that is present in every street and alley ways architecture. And all combined with the hustle and bustle of a street market.

The second stop was Kotor Montenegro and feeling energetic, reached 1037 steps up to the old fortress. I don't necessarily recommend this. The hike was hair-raising, lack of walls and steps crumbling sections. On the way up to began to wonder if I have enough insurance holiday. It was nothing! On the way down contemplates request a claim form! Fear! And then some! But it was well worth. The views from the top with a view to the fjord - is actually a submerged River - cannon were quite impressive.

Then came a day at sea to enjoy the delights of the ship itself. Or put another way, cocktails by the pool in the light of the Sun!

In Santorini, the next stop, having learned my lesson from Kotor, led to the cable car route until the cliff, rather than risk riding on one local donkeys. At the top, took a bus to Kamaris, a local volcanic black sand beach, in the most beautiful beautiful surroundings. It was quiet and peaceful in spite of the large number of restaurants serving soft drinks and local seafood and fish. Then went back to Thira, this time for a cocktail at the top of the cliff, overlooking the ship anchored in the caldera below and watching the sun set - simply beautiful. All this and Nafplio and Athens, our final destination, yet to come.

I really enjoyed my trip Azamara cruise. Itinerary and food were excellent. Azamara Club Cruises offer brilliant value. Gratuities are included does not need to worry about how much to tip. Soft drinks are included no need worry about beverage charges. Specialty coffees are included. Bottled water is included, so it is not necessary to worry about buying drinks on the coast. Wine with lunch and dinner is included. Every day is different and not rationed! If you don't like the featured wine, there are alternatives that can be purchased. There is no formal nights, so no clothing night for packing. You can use what you feel comfortable, while no shorts, jeans or trainers in the dining room are not allowed. Dining room is open seats for dinner when and with whom, you want to. Two specialty restaurants: first specialized in – guess what – fillets; rib and Aqualina specializing in seafood. Both of these restaurants carry surcharges, but why not – for a special occasion are special!

Obviously, if you're after a lively with plenty of facilities and activities cruise then Azamara Club cruises may not be for you. But if want to attentive service, fabulous food, amazing ports of call, and a relaxed easy will undoubtedly below country club atmosphere. It can be treated and wonderfully caring. I loved it!
